The device uses a spray method to determine the resistance of any fabric, whether or not it has been treated with waterproof or water-repellent properties, to surface wetting by water.
A test specimen, mounted on a pulley and positioned at a specific distance and angle of 45° beneath a central spray nozzle, is sprayed with a specific volume of distilled or fully deionized water.
The degree of wetting is determined by comparing the appearance of the test specimen with defined standards and photographs.
